World Cup Hangover

So the World Cup is over and many are breathing a sigh of relief while others are feeling a nasty soccer hangover (whether they won or lost!)

I had a great time covering the fan scene in Montreal and put together a video of some great moments leading up to the final day.

World Cup in Montreal

Going to all the bars, cafes, restaurants etc to celebrate the World Cup with fans going for different countries has been great so far. I feel like I’ve visited so many different countries each day! I spent a whole day and a half watching the games in Spanish!

Things are getting more intense as the first round is getting towards the end with teams starting to change places on the track to the next round. Lots of surprises, disappointments, good soccer, and interesting refereeing… !

Check out my blog on my different experiences with plenty of pictures, videos and little tidbits from around Montreal’s communities.

World Cup Fever!

So, thanks to a journalism professor of mine Bob Babinski I got a job with CBC for the duration of the World Cup! I will be blogging as a Mobile Journalist in Montreal on the nook and cranny stories I can find in the city. In my preparations I’ve been finding all sorts of interesting things on the internet.

One I find very cool is this amazing graphic calendar of the tournament which I will turn to frequently! I have also found some articles highlighting issues in Africa as the spotlight is now shining on the whole continent! One about education and one about the opportunities this year’s World Cup might provide Africa.

Another favourite tidbit I came across is how OXFAM is using the World Cup in an interesting and innovative way. Check out this video project that has people all around the world juggling a soccer ball together (some of them remind me of the juggling sessions I used to have with my teammates!!).

I’m getting excited and a little nervous! No matter what, June and July will be busy exciting months for… most of the world! If you have any interesting stories that might be blog worthy happening in Montreal let me know!

And just for fun to get the excitement building watch this!
